Hello and Welcome.  My name is Catherine Lucas.  I am the founder and owner of Lucas Studios.

We offer Personal Training, Pilates Courses and Stretch Classes.

We are passionate about health and fitness and believe strongly that the key to your future lies first and foremost in creating and maintaining a healthy body.

When your body is not functioning optimally, every aspect of your life is negatively affected, whether you are aware of it or not.

Your brain cannot function optimally if the body that supports it is not.  Everything we do relies upon the workings of our brain. An unhealthy body leads to sub-optimal brain function and over time, degeneration.

Regardless of your current health and fitness status you can turn your future around.

We do not believe in quick fixes, fads or trendy fitness approaches.

We do believe in lifestyle change over time.  Your body is a wonderful thing that will always respond positively to positive change.  To deal with pain or injury, weight loss or sub-optimal fitness, sporting or peak performance training we believe in a step by step approach over time to correctly train the neural pathways of your brain and body, and build a strong, functional musculoskeletal system.

We base our approach upon the latest scientific findings and principles that are coming out of exercise science today.  Over the past decade there has been an explosion of research in the fascinating area of exercise science.  Many previously held ‘myths’ of exercise and nutrition have been busted.

Our approach to helping you achieve your goals is very much influenced by this ongoing scientific research.

We pride ourselves in providing you with an excellent service driven by our own passion and dedication to health and fitness in a friendly, professional, non-threatening training environment.

The concept behind Lucas Studios is to provide both a Pilates Studio and a Personal Training Studio, because I am passionate about both Pilates and Personal Training structured around (but not exclusively) Resistance Training.

While I have previously pursued successful careers in computing and law, throughout my life I have remained passionate about health and fitness.  It has formed the basis, the cornerstone really, of my life.  So it is fitting that I have turned this passion in a business direction.

Why Pilates?  As a discipline, Pilates and the exercises it prescribes, are fundamental to any fitness program as they promote correct posture, core strength and improved overall strength, stability and mobility.

Why Resistance Training? I have incorporated Resistance Training into my own training for many years.  It is a sometimes overlooked part of fitness regimens, yet is essential to building a strong and healthy musculoskeletal system in both men and women, that can take you through successfully to a ripe old age.  Increasing research is also showing its importance in fat loss, and in staying young both physiologically and mentally.

Resistance Training traditionally involves lifting weights.  However, modern training techniques also incorporate the use your own body weight against gravity in a huge variety of different exercises and movements, dynamic movement and power moves, as well as integrating resistance in the form of various different types of weighted equipment.

I offer you my passion, knowledge and experience to help you achieve your fitness goals, whether to lose weight, improve general fitness, increase your strength, stability and mobility, exercise during pregnancy, recover from pregnancy, injury or illness, or to prepare for a sporting event or season.
